For the past 8 years, Lynchburg Road Runners Club and Type 1 Diabetes Experience (T1DE) have hosted this race to provide support for local families living with Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes. It has become a great community and family event. The proceeds from this race have helped with education on diabetes management, nutrition education and cooking demos, community support groups and even camps for children with Type 1 Diabetes. 

The Memorial Day 10K is the 6th race in the 2024 Lynchburg Road Runners  Race Series.

Please note that after carefully researching the recommendations of the Cleveland Clinic and guidelines of the Road Runners Club of America pertaining to healthy ages for youth participation in road races, this event is limited to those age 10 and older.

Registration fees are non-transferable & non-refundable. An entry can only be used for the person registered for the entry. Entries cannot be deferred to the following year or a future event.

Lynchburg Road Runners Club Member Discount:  A $5.00 discount is available to current Lynchburg Road Runners Club members. Discount period is Jan. 2nd - May 5th.  Participant membership must be current with LRRC membership roster found on RunSignUp. Discount will be given at checkout automatically. Refunds and discounts will not be given after completing online race registration. Please note:  A LRRC discount is valid only for participants whose membership is current on race day (5/27/2024). Assisted Participants:
We are pleased to provide an opportunity for assisted participants to enjoy race day. An assisted participant is typically being pushed in a stroller "appropriate" for the event (ie..hand brake, tether, appropriate wheels). Both the participant being pushed and the pusher are required to register for this event. Assisted participants will start prior to the 10K start and be ranked separately from the 10k event. Both the pusher and assisted participant should indicate this classification during the registration process for our planning purposes.

Course: 
The event begins at Riverfront Park just past Depot Grille, goes up 9th Street, turns right on Jefferson Street beside Amazement Square, and proceeds to the Blackwater Bikeway Trail. Once there, stay on the trail and go through the tunnel. When you get to the junction of the four trails, take the Ed Page trail, cross over Blackwater Creek on the foot bridge, and continue on the Ed Page trail to 238 feet past the 0.25 mile marker. Then, turn around, come back down the Ed Page trail to the trail on the right to go back through the tunnel, back to 9th Street, and finally to Depot Grille.

Results:
In-person, 10K results will be available on RunSignUp.com and RiversideRunners.com following the event. Participants can also sign-up for text and email notification during registration.
Please Note:  There are no awards for 2 Mile Walk participants. 

10K AWARDS:  
Top 3 Overall M/F; Top Masters (40+) M/F; Top 3 M/F in each age group;  Overall awards ranked on "chip" time / Age group results ranked on "chip" time. 
*This is a Chip timed event, Disposable MyLaps Race Bib Technology will be used.
*Please note:  There are no awards given for the 2 MILE WALK.

10K AGE GROUPS:
10-12, 13-17, 18-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75 & Over. Age Group ranking based on "chip" time.

RACE T-SHIRTS:
Moisture-wicking t-shirts for our 10K are gender specific. The 2 Mile Walk shirts are 100% cotton and unisex.  Both are guaranteed to those registered by May 1, 2024. A limited number of extra shirts are ordered after this deadline and available on a first-come basis at packet pickup.
