    Green Lake Triathlon for ages 13 and up, Green Lake Spicer, MN


    Individual Sprint or Olympic course and Sprint or Olympic Relays.
    Relay teams may be made up of any combination of 2 or 3 people, male or female.

    The race starts off with a nice swim in sandy Green Lake. The bike ride takes a path of gently rolling hills around the Green Lake area, with a smooth run to the finish. The course is well marked with distances clearly posted.  To view images of the course maps, click the button at the top of this page.
    Sprint Course: 1/4 mile swim, 14 mile bike, 3 mile run
    Olympic Course: 1/4 mile swim, 22 mile bike, 6 mile run (Swim portion has been cut to 1/4 for 2020 with the staggered start)

    Packet pick-up:

    Under green tent in the parking lot next to Zorbaz.   
    Packets will be handed out on August 8th at 5-7pm.   Packets should be picked up at that time.  Social distancing will be marked for the safety of the participants and volunteers. Your packet pick-up options will be.........

    Option # 1  Aug 8th, 5-7 pm 

    Option # 2 Self serve on race day Aug 9th, 6:30 am - 7:45 am (tent in parking lot next to Zorbaz) 

    Transition area:

    Location: Parking lot next to Zorbaz

    You can bring in your bike starting at 6:30am and you MUST be set-up and out of the transition area by 7:45 am, ONLY two bikes per rack for 2020.

    Bib Number:

    You should have your bib number attached on the front of your shirt just above the waist to get the best read-rate.  Bibs located anywhere else will have a lower read-rate. Bib numbers need to be visible when you cross the finish line. 

    Body Markings:

    Will need to be completed by the participants or family member.  Large bib number on right bicep, large bib number on right calf and wave number on top of right hand.

    Start Time:  8:00am

    Once you have your equipment set-up in the transition area we ask that you social distance prior to your start time.

    No pre-race meeting for 2020.  Detailed instruction will be included in your race packet.

    Plan to be at the starting line ten minutes ahead of your start time.  Find your wave near the starting line.    A volunteer will be holding a sign for the waves.  Please take a spot next to an orange cone.  As one participant enters the water the person in the wave can advance to the next cone.  We will pause for a few seconds and then the next participant can enter the water.  For 2020 we will have a staggered start using a starting mat.  Do your best to keep spaced out in the water.

    Start Location:

    Beach area to the North of the docks.  We will not be on Zorbaz property for 2020.

    Please limit the time you are at the event prior to the race or after.  A disposable mask will be provided in your packet.  You are encouraged to wear the mask up until the start time.  A trash can will be available at the start to dispose of your mask. 

    Water Stops:

    For your safety we encourage you to bring your own liquids for the race.

    Water stops will be self-serve.  Water stop locations: at 1.5 and 3 mile marks which are also the Sprint and Olympic turn around spots.  Bottles will be available for pickup at each stop (water only).  Trash cans will be spaced along the course.  Please DO NOT drop bottles on the course.  Please carry the bottle to the near trash or next water stop.

    Two utility vehicles will be patrolling the course.  Extra water will be available on the carts. 


    After you finish the timing chip should removed and place the timing chip in a bucket at the finish.  All non-returned chips will be billed at a rate of $30.00 per chip. Volunteers will be there to remind the participants.  DO NOT hand the chip to the volunteers.   The chip go into the bucket for disinfecting. 

    Upon finishing the race, prepackaged refreshments will be available for each participant.

    Zorbaz will be open and providing a free beer to participants.  Just show them your bib number.  Thanks Sam!


    Times will be available on-line at www.pickleevents.com  .  The award winners will be posted on-line as well. 

    Awards will be sent out via USPS.  No awards presentation for 2020.

    Special instructions for the relays:

    Each relay packet will contain a single bib number and three timing chips.  No exchanging of bibs or chips for 2020. Your runner should be wearing the bib and each participant should be wearing a chip (ankle bracelet).

    VERY IMPORTANT!  All chip MUST be returned.  There will be a table set-up in the transition area.  After your swimmer returns they should place the timing chip in the bucket on the table.  After your biker returns that person should place the timing chip in the bucket on the table.  After your runner finishes they should remove and place the timing chip in a bucket at the finish.  All non-returned chips will be billed at a rate of $30.00 per chip.  Volunteers will be there to remind the participants.  DO NOT hand the chips to the volunteers.   The chips go into the bucket for disinfecting.
