    This scenic course and the post-race festivities truly embrace the spirit of the old Southwest, making the 50th Saguaro National Park Labor Day Run a regional favorite.  

    Our rolling 8-mile course loops through the beautiful cactus forest in the foothills of the scenic Rincon Mountains at Saguaro National Park East. Race morning promises to be hot, so bring water and sunscreen. Wave starts, with limited pre-race and post-race activities.

    The oldest race of the Southern Arizona Roadrunners, this event has been featured as a Runner’s World Race of the Month.

    Incentive-based Prize Money in 8-miler

    Age Group Awards from Running Shop, top three in 5-year categories in 8-miler. Chip-Timing, with start/finish line chip timing by Roadrunner Race Timing

    Technical running shirt with unique race artwork

    50th Anniversary Commemorative Medallion to all finishers

    The 8-miler is part of SAR's Running Shop Grand Prix. 

    Water at 2, 4, 6, and 7 mile marks 



    The 8 Miler is part of SAR's Running Shop Desert Grand Prix.  

    Gift certificates and other prizes for overall and age-group winners, plus $250 to fastest man and woman who break the current course records:

    Race Director Challenge: The first man who breaks race director Randy Accetta's course PR of 42:48 will receive $424.80 in cash on the barrelhead.  The first woman who breaks an age-graded equivalent of 47:48 will receive $474.80 in cash on the barrelhead.

    Monday, September 6, 2021 Possible Schedule

    5:15-6:00 AM Packet pick-up at Saguaro Park EAST: You can pick up your shirt and number at the SAR tents in the main parking lot near the Visitor’s Center. There is no race day registration, only number/shirt pick-up. 

    Parking: There is no parking at the National Park -- please park safely on neighboring roads, following all signage and all Pima County traffic laws.  Do not block neighborhood driveways, do not park in the street, do not put other people in jeopardy.  Please car pool if at all possible.  Thank you. 


    SATURDAY, AUGUST 4: 10-1 packet pickup at The Running Shop, 3055 N Campbell, Tucson

    MONDAY, AUGUST 6 at Saguaro National Park EAST

    5:00 - 6:00 packet pickup on site
    5:30 am Wave #1: Early start line-up time for 8-mile walkers and walk/runners.

    5:45 am Wave #2

    6:00 am Wave #3

    6:15 am Wave #4

    6:30 am Wave #5

    9:00 Official course closure -- for safety's sake, the National Park Service reserves the right to pick up any participants still on the course starting at 9:00 am.
