The predicted heavy rain from the remnants of Hurricane Kenna never materialized and, as a result, the small starting field encountered only light rain. With the temperature in the upper 60's, conditions were actually quite favorable.
Bill Schroeder (Kingwood), who once held the overall course record at 16:42, duplicated that time. Now running as a master, he broke Craig Calmes existing masters' record of 16:47.
Crossing the finish line in 21:47, nine-year-old Bree Schrader (Spring) took nearly two-minutes off her existing female sub-12 age record of 23:29. That record was set last December. Bree's mom, Lea, was the first female and her sister, Maddee, finished in 23:00.
The next race in the series is scheduled for Saturday, November 9th. The entry fee remains $1.00 (yes, one dollar).
