COURSE

5km course: New course this year. Same start and finish, but the new proposed 5k will utilize neighborhood roads with a lollipop loop.

10-mile course: The iconic JBTR course features a scenic loop starting near Sypes Canyon trailhead and continuing across private property only accessible on race day.  Great climbs follow as the runners head up Middle Cottonwood after a challenging water crossing, then continue across the Bridgers and down Sypes Canyon.

Aid stations will be at the Middle Cottonwood Trailhead and the high point of the trail on Sypes. Both will have water and SaltSkick sports drink.

10-MILE COURSE: 2,838 ft. of elevation gain. View PDF

PARKING

Our permit from the Forest Service requires NO PARKING AT THE TRAILHEAD or along Sypes Canyon Road. This applies to racers, spectators, and volunteers. You have two options to get to the race:

1) Get dropped off at the start/finish area at the top of Sypes Canyon Road (again, no parking here)

2) Park at the Springhill Sod Farm (corner of Springhill Rd and Sypes Canyon Rd) and take a shuttle (a BSF sprinter van).

Thank you for helping us keep our permit and a good relationship with the Sypes Canyon neighborhood!

THE START

1). Leave yourself plenty of time to catch the shuttle and get to the race start.

2) Please remember that this event starts and finishes in a residential neighborhood. The land around the start area is all private property, so keep your warmup activities contained to the road and Sypes Canyon trail.

POST-RACE BBQ

Stick around after your race for a post-race BBQ, raffles, awards, and beer.

Spectators can purchase a BBQ ticket for $10.

ABOUT THE BSF PRO TEAM

Proceeds from this event support the nonprofit Bridger Ski Foundation's Nordic Pro Team. Coached by four-time Olympian Andy Newell, this community-supported Olympic development team gives some of the top skiers in the country the support to pursue a professional ski career. This  season, three Pro Team athletes raced on the World Cup circuit and several ranked at or near the top of the domestic Super Tour standings. One was named to the U.S. Ski Team. Olympic athletes in the U.S. do not receive funding from the government in the way that athletes from Germany, Norway, Sweden, and other countries do. Thus, a few select ski clubs in the states play a crucial role in developing and supporting both up-and-coming and established skiers. The BSF Pro Team is self- funded and depends on the support of sponsors, BSF, and the larger community.
