Details from event's RunSignUp.com listing:
The Mountain Mania is back, and will partner with the Salvation Army of Decatur as the charity partner for 2023. This will be the final year with the Mountain Mania name before this event becomes the Red Kettle Run! This 15k and 5K is one of the most challenging, yet rewarding race experiences you can find in the Southeast.
Runners choosing the 15k will run up and down several hills varying in degrees of difficulty. We highly recommend good cushioned shoes, but avoid shoes that have a stack height over 40 mm to avoid stability issues on descents, or a few sections of this course with turns.
The 5k will run the start segment just like the 15k up Burningtree Mountain. The course will deviate at the top and runners will follow the 5k markings and start their return trip to finish line.
- All finishers of either the 15K or 5K will receive a finisher medal.
- Age group awards for Males and Females will be in 5 year increments. Top Overall Male and Female runners and the top Masters Male and Female will receive awards. If you win the Overall or Masters awards then you are not eligible for your age group awards.
- All runners who pre-register will receive an event t-shirt with their registration.
- All runners will receive a digital goody bag with offers from sponsors of the event.
Proceeds from the race will go to the Salvation Army of Decatur to support their programs and operations in Decatur.
Online registration closes on October 20th at 11:59 AM. On-site registration is available on Saturday morning starting at 6:30 AM and it closes at 7:15 AM. Cash, check, or Venmo is accepted for on-site registration. On-site prices are $50 for the 15K, $40 for the 5K.
For the love of all that is good and moisture wicking...
