A pleasant, well-run race for anyone in the Colorado Springs area. The half-marathon course is an out-and-back along a meandering creek path, starting and finishing in a large park near downtown CS. Seeing the same scenery on the way back is a bit less than exciting, but the accessibility of the path means there are many places where spectators can cheer runners on (and can follow them for significant portions of the course). Only downside is an early start time (6:30 am) - makes for a sleepy beginning if you're coming in from out of town.
- dark grey, short-sleeve technical T-shirts for finishers (plus a medal)
- good parking arrangements near starting line (although I noticed the buses to the marathon start running somewhat late)
- flat course - a very slight uphill to the turnaround, but mostly no significant elevation change for the entire course
I think this would be an excellent option for runners considering their first 1/2 marathon - a nice race all around.
