There is a 5K Run/Walk for Autism on May 10, 2014, to raise awareness of Autism in Southeast Michigan.

The race will begin at 9:00 a.m. (same day registration begins at 7:30 a.m.) at Stoney Creek Metropark (Eastwood Beach Area). There will be a competitive 5K Run/Walk, a 1 Mile Fun Walk, and other free family activities including face painting, music, tie dying tee shirts and massages. All ages are welcome to participate, rain or shine.

Once rarely seen by physicians, Autism now occurs at a rate of 1 in every 68 births. Autism is a neurological disorder of the brain that typically appears before the age of three. It is referred to as a spectrum disorder because it comes in many different forms and severities. People with Autism have difficulty communicating with others and relating to the outside world.
