A very well managed race, kudos to the race and support staff! The Piper at the start is a Marine favorite. The race description posted doesn't come close to the natural beauty of this course. Despite the heat the run was about 95%+ well shaded and very tolerable (93 deg. at finish). The "road" (old rail line) course surface is fine, well packed lime rock for near the entire course and very level -- as good a running surface as I've ever Marathoned on. While water stations were about every 5 miles, and you were encouraged to carry water, mobile "water gators" were along throughout the entire course. They "checked" every runner every pass -- usually more then once per mile, and carried snacks, water, gatorade, ect. These folks are very concerned about safety. I expect the "Run 4 Troops" will be a classic midwestern marathon. This was my 43rd completion. T Korn
